Urinetown - August 29-31 & September 5-7
Professional Youth Theatre of Michigan Presents: Urinetown
A side-splitting satire with a title you’ll never forget, Urinetown is a wickedly funny, sharp-witted sendup of corporate greed, government corruption, and revolution—wrapped in a hilariously self-aware take on musical theatre itself. Winner of multiple Tony Awards, Urinetown is as thought-provoking as it is laugh-out-loud funny.
In a dystopian city plagued by a decades-long drought, water is so scarce that private toilets have become a thing of the past. The corrupt Urine Good Company controls all public restrooms, forcing desperate citizens to pay for the privilege of relieving themselves. But when young Bobby Strong decides enough is enough, he sparks a rebellion that challenges the powerful and shakes the foundations of the status quo.
With a bold and irreverent score inspired by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, Urinetown blends biting humor, unexpected romance, and high-energy satire into a wildly entertaining theatrical experience. Both a celebration and a critique of the musical theatre form, this clever and subversive show will have audiences laughing, thinking, and questioning the world around them—one trip to the loo at a time!
